Day 11
The students finished learning about sensory behaviors and Autism.
They then learned about cardboard carpentry and APT (applied paper technology)
They then had 2 labs.
Lab 1- was upstairs and they got to practice making a box and then applying 1 layer of APT to it.
Lab 2- They had 2 hours in the Miriam center working 1:3 with the kids in their groups. Evaluating and then treating 2 different kids.
Day 12
The students made their cardboard carpentry projects. Each had to pick a peice of equipment that a specific child in the MC would benefit from. Then put 1 layer of APT on it. Throughout the day each group spent 3 hours in the MC doing 1:3 with kids
Day 13
we had a 4 hour review for their big test on all the diagnosis
Test then introduction to adaptive equipment and assistive technology. How to make from scratch. Then add 1 layer APT to projects
Day 15
The student had 1.5 days of lab practicals for Adaptive Equipment/Adaptive Design over the last 2 days. We had 13 patients come in (or kids from the Miriam Center). They evaluated each then made them the equipment they needed. In this short amount of time they made....
- 2 bed positioners
- 1 walker for a man in his late 20's
- 7 PVC pipe standers/walkers
- 5 adapted Haitian Chairs
- 1 bucket chair
- a scooter board/prone positioner
- 2 hand braces
- fit 3 pairs of AFOs
