STAND HAITI PROJECT JULY/JUNE

WHO IS STAND? I a non-profit group that comes to PdP 3x a year for 2 weeks at a  time to provide free therapy services for adults and children.

WHAT DOES STAND stand for? Sustainable Therapy and New Development

STAND MISSION- Establishing Permanent Access To Orthopedic Rehabilitation Services In the Country of Haiti Through the Direct Patient Care and Clinical Training of Its Citizens

STAND WEEK 1- Due to my trip to South Africa for WFOT as well as the annual meting for outreach being the 2 days after I got back...I knew I would miss the first 4 days of week 1 of STAND. Before leaving for Africa I spend days preparing the STAND clinic...I made sure the pediatric and building clinics were almost completely set up before I left for South Africa. A huge thank you Gomez and Lafeit for helping with moving and setting up. A huge thank you to Presendieu Estime for buying and delivering all the building supplies for the equipment building prior to the start of STAND. I left Monise Michel in charge as she  has participated in the pediatric clinic for 7+ times. She is more than capable but it is an overwhelming job and it is draining as this first week we will see 100+ kids. A huge thank you to Erin for sending 2 of her Therapy techs to help in the building clinic as we were short handed.  It was a little trickier as All the pediatric therapist are new and I am not there for orientation and to answer initial questions but thankful for technology and internet and the ability to orient from afar but we did it!  It takes a village to run STAND and I was so worried about not having enough help and me not being there but God as always was so faithful! We had -4 pediatric therapists and 4 rehab techs and 1 Pediatric volunteer. Oh and we introduced the new STAND nurse and yearly vitamin program. It was a big week as well as the annual outreach meeting happened that Thursday at the mission where 200 families were suppose to come and receive schedules and information for the coming year.
I only had the chance to snatch a few pictures from week 1 as I was not there...

WEEK 2
Day 1 Pediatric Clinic: all I can say is WOW! I mean pediatric team rocked it! They saw 34 kids and we fit/adapted countless AFOs, educated parents, made HEP and updated treatment plans. Then we built so many different pieces of equipment.

I can't believe all this happened in 1 day! The team worked so well together and I am proud of each of their hard work and so thankful for each of them.

Day 2 Pediatric Clinic STAND The Haiti Project. Today was another GREAT day. We saw some challenging cases... saw some hard emotional stuff but in the end we helped 31 families receive therapy services. Another big day downstairs building...

Plus adapted and fit countless AFOs and braces and fit almost everyone with new shoes.
This team is killing it! 😁

Over the 2 days we built 4 bucket chairs, 3 Haitian Chairs, fit 3 wheelchairs, 4 pvc standers, 1 pvc walker, and 2 wood standers. We fit countless AFOs and hand braces and custom made some as well. Lots of parents were educated... kids loved on and HEP updated.

Day 5-
As always the last day was CRAZY BUSY! But we made sure that we gave quality care down to the very last patient and the scoliosis brace that gave us all sorts of problems....and kept us on our toes...lots of brainstorming and teamwork... we ended the day with 1 last success!
