12 DAYS OF GIVING

12 DAYS OF GIVING...12 CHANCES TO PARTNER IN MY MINISTRY BEFORE 2017...

"12 End of The Year Giving Opportunities- 12 opportunities to give an end of the year gift that will give us a boost next year."

DAY 1-BIANCA

On the 1st day of giving we have Bianca. Bianca needs someone to sponsor her at $55 a month or make s 1x donation to help us reach her $660 for the year. To donate go to www.cten.org/autumnmarshall/ and send me a private message letting me know that you donated for Bianca.
HER STORY
I will never forget the first time I met Bianca. Her dad had walked all the way from O'Boy. I knew that was super far but never realized how grueling the trip was until recently when I made the trip via motorcycle. It is an off roading path straight up and over a mountain. It took us around 3-4 hours to go up and over by motorcycle. Her father made this trip 10 hours walking carrying his sweet girl all the way to the mission with the hope of finding help for her.
Bianca has Cerebral Palsy and seizures. She was the very first kid on the outreach waiting list a few years ago. Dad stayed the night the first time he came and got educated on how some home programming ideas, received a haitian adapted chair, AFO foot braces, a PVC walker and we paid for him to take public transportation home. Every time we called him about bringing his daughter in for a check-up he was always there. His love for his daughter is HUGE!
He came to us back in May desperate for help and feeling hopeless. He asked us to take Bianca because he could not care for her and her mother who was hospitalized in Cap Haitian and take care of the other kids. We explained to him that we do not take in kids but sat down and discussed how we could help him. We came up with a plan that he would find someone he trusted to come to his house and care for Bianca while he worked in his chocolate fields and then went to the hospital(the hospital was over an hour each way from his house) to be with his wife. So we agreed to pay a salary for a caregiver. Each month he would make the long journey to receive the $ and give an update. Around month 4 the mother was still in the hospital. We started asking more questions and found out that mom is hospitalized for mental illness and will probably never be able to care for Bianca. I strongly believe the best thing for this sweet girl is keeping her with her family and her father who adores her. Would you please consider helping us to keep helping this father. They have hired a very sweet grandma caretaker. Stephanie and Presindeu did a home visit a few months ago and reported how sweet her caretaker is.
Please consider making an end of the year donation toward Bianca and her family. Or if you feel led sign up to be a monthly sponsor for her.
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $660 or $55 per month

DAY 2- Medika Mumba

As many of you know 1 aspect of our outreach program is providing Nutrition food to some of the outreach children who are malnourished or require extra nutrition due to their disability. We would like to add Medical Mumba to our list of resources to help those with more severe malnourishment. A case of Medical Mumba would cost $75US dollars. An end of the year donation would help ensure that we could start out the new year with this resource on hand.
CURRENTLY The nutrition part of outreach provides a nutritious pack of food that contains 16 meals for the child, that can be prepared at home. The Miriam Center nurse decides if a child qualities for this peice of the outreach program. Each child in this program receives one bag of food each week. This food is only provided to the children in outreach that need extra nutrition. The food is made by Stephanie out of items we can buy at the Haitian Market. We also have a few children on formula who cannot breast feed or their mothers passed away during childbirth.
Please consider making an end of the year donation toward our nutrition program or become a monthly supporter or this important aspect.
Thank you in advance for partnering with us to improve the nutritional needs of the children we serve!
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $900 or $75 per month

DAY 3-DANIEL

Meet Daniel. He is one special little boy. Daniel has Cerebral Palsy, seizures, and is malnourished. He is a fighter! Daniel is 4 years old but only weighs 7 kilos. Daniel's family loves him very much and they would do just about anything for him. His family is homeless and they are often moving around staying with different friends. We help Daniel with nutrition, medical care, transportation costs, etc. Daniel recently spent a few weeks in House of Hope receiving some specialized medical care and malnourishment treatment. He was recently discharged. His dad walked miles to the hospital everyday to check on Daniel and spend time with him.
Would you consider making an end of the year donation to help Daniel's family to continue to receive the support they need from to help Daniel thrive? He requires specialized formula and food.
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $360 or $30 per month

DAY 4-OUTREACH/Miriam Center PHARMACY

On a day to day basis we work with medically fragile children with compromised immune systems. This means that they get sick more often and the urgency for them to get the correct medicines in a timely manner is very important. With that said we facilitate over 200 kids medical care. These children can come to the Mission clinic Monday-Friday to see a doctor, get labs done, and receive needed medicines and the family only pays 100gds (less than $2US). that leaves us to fill the gap. One way we have learned to save ALOT of $ in the long run is buying medicines in bulk in PAP. As well as buying vitamins, vitamin C, and few other medicines in the states. We did a BIG pharmacy run to PAP late summer/early fall which cost us $1000. This has saved us ALOT of $. We would like to do another BIG pharmacy run at the start of 2017. Would you consider making an end of the year donation towards the Outreach/Miriam Center Pharmacy so we can start the new year off stocked up on life saving medication?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $3,000 or $250 per month

DAY 5- NICHOLSON's EDUCATION- EDUCATING NATIONALS

Nicholson started out as my Therapy Assistant. Over the 2 years he worked for me at the Miriam Center he fell in love with Therapy & found a passion working with children with special needs. I was able to help him go to LLU/UNAH Rehab Tech school in PAP. He worked very hard for 2 years. In August he graduated with a certificate as a Rehab Tech. He has decided to go straight into school for his bachelors in PT at the new school FSRL that has bachelors level OT/PT programs in Leogane. He has 18 classes this semester. He reports school being very challenging and overwhelming. He is studying ALL the time. He is very committed to farthing his education. He has the determination, the passion, and the love BUT he is lacking funding. He applied for a scholarship at the school and received a partial scholarship. I would like to help him with his schooling costs. When he gets done with school his plans are to return to the Miriam Center and to use his skills.
Please consider partnering with me to financially help Nicholson. My goal is to raise $300 a month towards his schooling. Would you Consider making an end of the year donation to help towards his schooling. Would you also pray about becoming a monthly sponsor for his school?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $3,600 or $300 per month

DAY 6- OUTREACH OUTINGS

WHAT ARE THESE?
This part of outreach program that was created after realizing & seeing that the outreach parents did not have the opportunity to or know how to have fun with their kids. Also realizing that every human being needs to have a BREAK from reality for a few hours especially when everyday life it HARD. We ALL need to laugh, have fun, enjoy time with friends & families. The truth is many of these families don't have many opportunities to do anything fun...to rest...to be free from worry about how they will provide for their family or daily needs. We may not be able to help them with all their needs but we can give them a few hour break and take care of their emotional needs.
WHY ARE THESE IMPORTANT?
These outings/events are important because they provide an avenue for the families to have fun with their children and other families in similar situations thus building a stronger community and a support system as they make friends with other parents facing the same day to day struggles.
HOW OFTEN DO THESE OUTINGS HAPPEN?
These outings take place monthly but since we have 140 families each family will get to participate in 3 group outings per year (ex. beach, Movie/popcorn day, etc.) plus a Christmas Party where everyone will be invited to attend.
Each Outing costs around $150-$200 depending on the activity. The beach is obviously more expensive then movie/popcorn/lunch. No matter what activity we decide to do we always provide a lunch for the parent/child.
Please consider making an end of the year donation towards this important aspect of outreach that focuses on the family unit having fun together.
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $2,400 or $200 per month

DAY 7- MIRIAM CENTER SUPPLIES

Caring for the 34 children who live at the Miriam Center requires a lot of supplies both daily care items (soap, toothpaste, etc.), as well as cleaning supplies, clothing, etc. Northwest Haiti Christian Mission funds this care but we are need of more sponsorships for the kids at the Miriam Center in order to provide for all the needs. I do my  best to find items on sale, have churches coming to Northwest Haiti Christian Mission on a trip collect items & carry them in, or order in bulk, etc. I ship in barrels of powdered bleach & items that are more expensive in Haiti because it saves us ALOT of $, I shop sales when I am in states and my parents shop when I am in Haiti. With that said I spend about $3,000 a year buying supplies to take into the Miriam Center. Would you consider making a donation towards this aspect of my ministry.
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $3,000 or $250 per month

DAY 8- OUTREACH HOMEVISITS

In Haiti it is a BIG deal to visit someone at their home. But I think we can all agree we enjoy having friends or family come to our home.  That quality 1:1 to visit and fellowship builds stronger relationships. Since the rest of outreach occurs in a group setting we believe home visit are very important. This is the time that we take to focus on individual families. To talk with them, hear how they are doing, share an encouraging message, pray with them, check on their home program, etc. Our goal  is that each family will receive at least 1 homevisit per year with a more therapy based focus and then multiple homevisits per year with a greater focus on encouragement and building relationship. The cost of home visits varies depending on how far the family lives from the mission & the number of people going on the homevisit but I have budgeted $100 a month. Would you consider making a donation towards this important aspect of outreach?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $1,200 or $100 per month

DAY 9-  OUTREACH MEDICAL

As many of you know working with special needs children has a heavy focus on Medical. All of these precious children have compromised immune systems putting them at a higher risk of getting sick AND when they get sick it tends to be more severe. A simple cold can be life threatening to some of these children. These children need to receive treatment quickly. Most of the families in our program can not afford all the medical care their children need. In fact many of these children would have passed away if it was not for the life saving care we are able to facilitate them getting through Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. We help bring medical care to an affordable level for these families. For just 100gds (less than $2US per visit) they are able to see the doctor, get lab work done, and receive all the medications prescribed. We also pay for hospital stays for those who are more ill and we help facilitate children to see other medical teams as needed. Would you consider partnering with us to provide this critically important aspect to outreach?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $4,800 or $400 per month

DAY 10- OUTREACH BLESSING FUND

This aspect of outreach was added after we started doing outreach homevisits. As we spent 1:1 time with each families we learned about their needs, we built relationship, and we felt the need to be able to help meet some of the important needs like fixing a leaking roof, helping pay rent for a year for a family that was about to be homeless, paying for a sick family member to get critically important medical care, etc. This fund exists so that we can improve the quality of care of the outreach children we serve. Saving a family members life ensures that child continues to have someone who loves them...fixing a leaking roof ensures that child stays dry when it rains. Would you consider helping us continue this important aspect of outreach?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $3,600 or $300 per month

DAY 11- OUTREACH START UP SHOE BUSINESS

With the BIG expansion of adding 100 more children to the outreach program this year we also have an increased need for funding. We have been brainstorming way that the outreach families could help us meet this need. We believe it is important for the outreach families to play apart as well as meeting a need in the community. about 6 months ago we trailed our first start up business which was a popsicle business. Unfortunately it was not super successful. Presendeiu came up with a second business idea of selling shoes. We did a trial run this fall where we bought name brand shoes in bulk from a place online and within the first day of having them at market they were all gone! We were able to make a decent profit on each pair of shoes. We would like to do a bigger order and really try to make this sustainable and a way to make some $ for the outreach program while providing shoes to the community. Would you consider donating to help us get this project off the ground?
EXPECTED START UP COST- $3,000

DAY 12- THERAPY SUPPLIES

Providing therapy to over 200 children requires ALOT of supplies. Thankfully many supplies are donated or carried in by visiting teams. BUT there are still a lot of supplies that I do end up buying. Lotion for daily massage, DUCTAPE & other supplies for all the building projects, laminating sheets for parent handouts, hand splinting material, toys, etc. Would you consider making an end of the year donation towards therapy supplies. Making sure we have everything we need to provide the best therapy possible?
EXPECTED BUDGET FOR 2017- $3,600 or $300 per month

Your end of the year donation will help give us a BOOST and the ability to start 2017 off STRONG!
