OUTREACH BEACH TRIP

This year while praying about how to move forward in building relationship within the Outreach Program, God gave me the vision of doing monthly get togethers in which ALL of outreach are invited to participate in. September we had a therapy ball training and for the month of October we had a beach outing.

We had about 20 families show up. We started out by having breakfast before we left (peanut butter sandwiches for the older kids & parents AND baby cereal for the little guys. We then all loaded in the back of a BIG tap-tap. We then took a 45 minute ride to a semi-private beach where we took the children swimming and played in the sand.

We were blessed by having the Kimmy's House team at the Miriam Center and they came along and helped facilitate the trip. The parents were hesitant on letting their children go into the water at first (later I found out it was never communicated what type of trip we were taking & so none were prepared with proper clothing). The parents did let me take their children 1 at a time into the water some were hesitant on letting the Kimmy's House team members take their children in (mainly because their was no relationship built yet). This is when I realized how far we have come in relationship with each other and how TRUST has been built. This was a HUGE realization for me!

We ended our time at the beach with water and a snack before heading back to the mission for a light lunch together. It was a FUN day had by all and a blessing for the families and those of us (Kimmy's House Team and myself ) who helped facilitate it.

It was a packed tap-tap ride

Right after Son-Son leaned over and kissed Derline

We did have to walk down a hill to the beach

Stacey was excited to be at the beach and enjoying some cold water!

I absolutely love watching Paul Frantz & his mother interact

A FUN day before she had double leg surgery the next day

Yeah...thats my girlfriend

Look at my MUSCLES

Yeah I LIKE him....

We had 3 Down Syndrome children from the local community come to the beach after hearing that a group of "Blancs" with special needs children were at the beach & brought their children to see how we could help.
