GRAND OPENING JUNE 2019 BIG CHANGE...GROWTH...TRANSITION

GRAND OPENING JUNE 2019
BIG CHANGE...GROWTH...TRANSITION

These are a few of the words that come to mind as I think about the For Jonathan Sake Outreach Program right now. A partnership has been formed between STAND the Haiti Project, NWHCM Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, and 5 STAR Global Ministries. This partnership will allow us to bring the program to the ,next level. LOTS of EXCITING but also COMPLICATED.... somewhat HARD things are in the works for the program come June 2019. These changes, growth, and transitions will enable us to better care for, advocate for, and love on the outreach families in the ACTIVE program. The changes will be hard as we will be regrouping all the families which means changing their folder colors. It will be complicated as therapy will no longer take place in St. Louis Du Nord but in Port A Paix (PdP) the neighboring town. It is exciting as there will no longer be 16 groups but 24 groups. Each group will no longer get 10 weeks of therapy per year but get 22-24weeks per year. More therapy and more kids getting helped!

STEPS COMPLETED
1. Prepare the STAND Clinic- The past 6 months I have been preparing the bigger things that were needed, All the BIG Therapy Matts and Foam Flooring has been shipped in. In January my dad and our friend Teddy came down for 2 weeks and built storage units for the toys, equipment, and medicine for the clinic.

My dad and Teddy built 4 Toy and supply storage shelving units that are in the front room. As well as 2 Toy boxes on wheels that will double as benches for parents to sit on while their child is getting therapy.

The clinic now also has 2 swing hook ups one in the front room and one in the back room. This will allow us to change out a variety of swings to use during therapy.

They also built a medicine and vitamin cabinet that was filled with all the Ticket Vitamins and Multi-Vitamin's that you all helped donate and buy at New Years. It is so exciting to see a years worth of vitamins all in 1 place organized.

2. Find a Director of Outreach for the STAND clinic PdP Campus
Outreach has grown to having over 600 families in the system. Presindue (PD) has been the director of outreach since the beginning and director of the Miriam Center for years. It has grown to be big enough that we needed to hire a second director. It was perfect timing with splitting the program between 2 different towns. PD has spent months praying and seeking the Lord on who would be the right person for this job. It would have to be someone with good organizations skills, good people skills, compassionate, leadership skills, able to make difficult decisions, etc. I am super excited to introduce you to Lionel Gedeus. He graduated from college as a teacher. He grew up in St. Louis and is willing to learn to be the director having PD as his mentor. He started 2 weeks ago and so far has been learning quickly and doing a great job. The plan is that if he keeps doing a good job and learning he will move to Port De Paix in June and be the PdP Director for Outreach. Stay tuned in upcoming emails to learn more about  Lionel.

3. Find, Hire, and Train a Nursing Staff
In June 2018 we hired Miss Marlee as the first outreach nurse. We realized the one area of outreach we needed to do better at was in the medical care. The outreach nurses job is multi-faceted, doing home visits to check on kids and families and do education in home environment. Have an emergency medical telephone that families can call and receive medical advice. Also the nurse goes and advocated for the child in hospital and clinics to ensure they are getting quality care, run the vitamin programs, do post hospital or clinic home visits to ensure they are getting better and not worse after discharge, and they also do 1x a month parent education on various medical topics. This position has become very important and to much for 1 person to do. We recently February 2019 hired a second nurse Miss Roselande who will be working alongside Miss Marlee to take care of the medical needs of the outreach children.

Meet the new nurse Miss Roselande.

4. Find and Train a Rehab Tech to be leader over therapy
I am excited to introduce Jenny. I have known Jenny for years and she has completed her level 2 fieldwork under me at the Miriam Center, she did some volunteering and training, and then spent a year working in pediatrics at COTP in Cap Hatian. STAND has hired Jenny to be the leader of the Rehab Technicians for the clinic. She started in January and has been acting as my translator and assistant in training 10 nationals in therapy. She is doing leadership training and team building training and is preparing to help build our team for STAND CLINIC.

Meet Jenny!

STEPS STILL NEED COMPLETED

1. Buying the toy's and equipment
Now that we have all the shelving and organization tubs purchased and in Haiti the next big step is buying the supplies to fill the cabinets with. I have created an amazon wishlist. I have a good friend Jim in Florida willing to ship some barrels and supplies for me by boat mid March. It is kinda short notice but would you be willing to help fulfill my wishlist by choosing 1 or 2 items to purchase. When you buy them off the amazon wishlist the item will be taken off the list to ensure multiples of items are not purchased and that all the items get purchased.

HOW IT WORKS?
Follow the below link. Browse items available, purchase what you would like and have it shipped to one of the below addresses.

AMAZON WISHLIST: STAND PEDIATRIC CLINIC

If the item is bought in the next 2 weeks you can have the item shipped to

Marilyn Mosier (Autumn Marshall)
3854 Pebble Brook Cir
Orange Park, FL 32065

If purchased after March 14th then you can have it shipped to my Mission Flight International (MIF) Mailbox. This method is more expensive but is a way for me to get items in time for the new opening of the clinic after the 2 weeks.

2. Hiring the rest of the Rehab Staff
One of the areas that still needs alot of prayer is hiring the rest of the Rehab Staff necessary to run the STAND clinic and see the 140-160 outreach children for 22-24 weeks of therapy. We are looking to hire either 3 more Rehab Technicians if we find 3 that are qualified and are a good fit for the program. If not we are praying about waiting and hiring a OT or PT graduate from FSRL come December and until then using some locals and volunteers to fill the gap till we can hire a therapist.

Jenny and I are currently doing a Continuing Education Course for 3 months and training 6 locals and 3 Rehab Technicians to specialize in pediatrics. They are also getting hands on practice with the kids in the outreach program and the kids at the Miriam Center. (More about this training in the next email update).

I am also  still in need of more monthly supporters in order to have more staff on monthly salary. If you feel led to help with salaries for the amazing staff and become a monthly sponsor you can do so at
www.cten.org/autumnmarshall/ or CLICK HEREwww.cten.org/autumnmarshall/

I am in need of 30 more sponsors at $25 per month to fully cover all the salaries. Would you prayerfully consider being one of these 30 people. Would you share the need with a family member, friend, or co-worker and explain what an impact that money would have on an entire community each month.

3. Make the new schedules and calendars for the Active Outreach Program.
One of the most complicated aspects still left is figuring out what the daily schedule will be since we won't have 1 outreach group per day but 3 groups. Then coming up with 6 color groups and 24 different time groups. Making picture schedules for each, making new medical cards, transport cards, nutrition cards, etc. There is so much time, work, and organization that needs to happen before the annual meeting May 31st. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as I tackle this over the next few weeks to ensure we have time to print and laminate everything.

THANK YOU!
Thank you for all your prayers and support especially in the area of the outreach program. This program is impacting hundreds of children's lives across Northwest Haiti and we are excited for the expansion and the growth. Thank you for being part of TEAM OUTREACH.

STAY TUNED for next email UPDATE about HAITI CRISIS- Great turmoil is happening in Haiti and needs our prayers!
