MIRIAM CENTER THERAPY UPDATE

Therapy at the Miriam Center is a Hopping and FUN place to be. We have been blessed with many volunteers and students the past months which have allowed the kids to get more therapy. The kids are loving having almost daily therapy. I wanted to share a little update on each of the kids and some fun therapy pictures. I hope you enjoy!


ANDY
Andy is not always a fan of his therapy but we sure do try to make it fun and provide a variety of activities. Andy's favorite therapy activity is lying on his side while someone helps him play with cause effect toys.








BERTHO
Bertho sure does love therapy! He loves standing in the stander, doing therapy ball activities, getting his massage/stretching each. morning, oh and we can't forget the bike. Bertho loves pretty much so all therapy activities.











CARLOS
Carlos love therapy Activities. The main goal we recently started working on during therapy is his cursive handwriting which will help him in school.










CHERLINDA
Cherlinda enjoys her daily therapy. Her favorite thing is to sing while she does her therapy. Her favorite activities continue to be the bike and therapy ball.










DEN-DEN
Den-Den continues to work hard during therapy where he has been making gains in refining his fine motor and gross motor skills. I am so proud of all the progress Den-Den continues to make.








EMMA
Emma is still not a huge fan of therapy but we manage to find ways to make her laugh and to make it fun even if she would rather watch others do therapy rather than participate…lol.










GILBERT
During therapy Gilbert is working on his overall strength and endurance and also his hand strength. His favorite therapy activity is a good therapy ball workout, Theraband and Yoga.








GILDINE
Gildine continues to be an energy conservationist...lol... So therapy at times is challenging. She does enjoy therapy as long as "work" is not involved. Her favorite activities include riding the bike and therapy ball activities. She has the fundamental skills for walking but we are still working to find the right motivation to make walking appealing and fun for her.







HOPE 
Hope loves therapy especially if it involves the bike or therapy ball!






ISAAC
Isaac loves therapy! In therapy he is working on many different skills from using his left hand, to handwriting, to balance and coordination, and bilateral hand activities. Isaac is always ready and willing to work with the therapy team with a big smile ready and waiting!
















JEAN
Jean sure does love therapy. He is such a hard workers. He loves pretty much any activity he is challenged to do from YOGA to handwriting to crafts to seated balance activities.














JENNY
Jenny loves her sensory integration therapy. Some of her favorite activities are playing in SAND, going for bike rides, and being on the trampoline.








JOSEPH
Joseph has days where he loves working with therapy and other days where he is to "grown up" and cool for therapy...lol... In therapy we are working on improving his speech/communication, handwriting skills, and coordination. His favorite therapy activities are YOGA, Therapy Ball and Theraband Activities.






JOSHUA
Joshua loves his therapy sessions. In fact even when it is not his therapy time he is often found hanging out in the therapy area. In therapy he is working on a variety of skills both fine motor and gross motor.















KEM
Kem loves to do therapy. She loves getting out of her wheelchair and getting to move around. Her favorite therapy activities are on the therapy ball. It feels good to get stretched. She also loves to work on the IPAD which she gets to do most days during school. She is working on handwriting with the App LETTERSCHOOL.









KENDERSON
Kenderson loves Sensory Integration Therapy. Some of his favorite activities are being squashed by the therapy ball, riding the bike and swinging in a variety of swings.





LOUNIDE
Lounide really enjoys her daily therapy. She really enjoys her daily massage/stretching but also activities on the therapy ball and the bike.











LOVEJINNIE
Honestly Lovejinie is not a huge fan of therapy but we try to make it fun and she usually gives into to smiling or laughing at least once during the session. She is a bit of an energy conservatism and feels therapy is a waste of energy...lol I sure to do love this girl and I see so much potential in her and this is why I push her so hard. Her favorite therapy activity is by far the bike.










MARY JULIE
Mary Julie is super hardworking during therapy. She has been really working hard on fine tuning her walking and balance skills as well as her fine motor/handwriting skills. I am so proud of her!









MINUSHE
Minushe loves herself some therapy! She looks forward to each day getting out of her wheelchair and the chance to move. A few times a week during school she is getting the chance to work on her handwriting using the IPAD APP LETTERSCHOOL. She gets so excited and is doing so well with her handwriting on the IPAD.


















MOISE
Moise loves himself some therapy! He especially loves therapy ball, the bike, and the swing. He has really been working on his standing and using his left arm. He is making improvements in both.










NATALIE
Natalie works hard and enjoys her therapy sessions. Her therapy is a mix of sensory Integration and Attention to fine motor tasks like pre-writing skills.



NIAKA
Naika is not a huge fan of therapy but I do believe it feels good to her to get moving and be in different positions. She has been doing great with standing in the stander and tummy-time on the swing. She enjoys playing with toys as well.




STEVEN
Steven LOVES Therapy. Not just participating in his therapy and gaining new fine motor and gross motor skills BUT he loves learning therapy. He has started participating in my educating Nationals therapy seminars when he can. When not in school he hangs out with the therapy team and has also been caught giving massages and therapy to some of the Miriam center staff pastedGraphic.png:-)




















THAMARA
Thamara loves therapy as long as it is fine motor tasks. She is not a huge fan of physical therapy as she prefers he legs to not be touched. We finally did find an amazing activity for her legs that she enjoys which involves going up and down the stairs while doing a puzzle. check out the video! Thamara is one of the most stubborn and determined girls I know! She has so much potential and is a genious! She absolutely loves painting and any work on the IPAD.







TI-WILLY
Ti-Willy loves therapy! He loves to get out of his chair and to move around. He enjoys standing in the stander, any work on the therapy ball, and especially the bike! We are really working with him learning to functionally play with both of his hands and not just throw toys. He has definitely been making improvements in this.








WADLEY
Wadley enjoys doing therapy. Right now the main focus is on his Upper body strength to help him with increased wheelchair mobility and independence with transitions in and out of his chair. 





WALDEN
Walden sure does love himself some therapy. He gets so excited to get out of his chair and get moving around. He loves spending time on the therapy ball, bike, and swing. He also loves when he gets to work on his fine motor skills using the IPAD.
