Small Business...Teaching ADLs of Work

The kids love making crafts and it is a great way to work on Fine Motor and Dexterity skills. The kids get tired of the same FM activities and games that I have as they are limited. the problem with crafts is they can get expensive with supplies and then when they are done with the crafts I tend to not know what to do with them. I keep them for a while and then end up throwing them away. So after some thought I decided to trial a new project...A small start up business worked by the kids. How it works is the craft items they make during therapy will be saved until market days occur. Then they will alternate 3-4 children at at time will get to go upstairs and sell the items that they helped make. This starts teaching the children to manage $ and some other basic work related skills. The children get to keep $1 of the profits that day which most tend to buy a coke or popcorn. The rest of the $ goes back into the therapy program to help buy more supplies. So far the children have completed 4 different crafts and sold at 3 different market days.
