The Joy of Outreach Homevisits...

  1. Visiting the outreach families homes is always 1 of the highlights of my week. unfortunately it is rainy season and so we did not get to go many weeks but the week we did get to go were such a blessing. There is just something very special about going to visit the families, spending 1:1 time with the child in their home environment, letting the other family members see us loving on the child, and then praying for that family specifically. I thought I would share a few of the home visits and some pictures.

MOSELINE
we went to visit Moseline's mom the week after her hysterectomy surgery to check up on her and see how she was doing. We were very happy to see that she was doing well!!! Moseline loves when we come visit as she loves to go for walks. Bernadette then shared an encouraging verse with her mom on how God is our healer and Great Physician.

STACEY
I love visiting stacey's at her house for a couple reasons. First she is always full of giggles and smiles at home! second they live way up on the mountain and their is an incredible view! Third I just LOVE LOVE watching her mother interact with her. Unfortunately when we came to visit her mom was at the river washing clothes but Stacey still had a blast playing with toys that we brought and "flirting" with Carlos. She says he is her boyfriend!

The following photos are the walk between Stacey's house and Caladina's House. They are not very far apart at all.

CALADINA and SHAMMANA
It is always a joy to visit this family on the mountain. Since a year ago they did not have a home to go to. Their rent was up and had no way to pay. The mother came to us to let us know that she owned land but had no $ to build a house. We were able to bless them out of the outreach blessing fund to build them a small house that now provide for their needs releasing her from the stress of how she would pay rent every year. Caladina is apart of the therapy outreach and Shamana attends the sensory school at the Miriam Center. This mother is one of the most patient women I know and has such a deep love for her children. It is always great when we get a chance to go and encourage her, pray for her and love on the children.

When we were leaving it was starting to get dark. Their as a beautiful sunset through the clouds

RICARDO
Ricardo loves the IPAD and worked really hard on his neck control while we were visiting the last time. We learned that he loves watching veggie tale videos. He worked on head control in from his stomach as well in a sitting position. He was full of smiles our entire visit.

WILDENS
We went to go visit wilden's and I kind of forgot all the rain we had been having and where he lived...The last hill to his house is a challenge to climb on a dry day let alone a muddy day. We had 2 short term mission trip members along with us on home visits this day. Unfortunately Wilden's and his mom were not home when we stopped to visit. When we went to leave we realized it was definitely going to a challenge getting back down. Thankfully Carlos helped us all down the mountain.

SAMUEL
Samuel was very excited to have visitors :-) He was full of smiles and giggles our entire visit. He loved receiving tickles, bouncing up and down on my leg for the vestibular input and standing on his feet to bounce up and down. We had some good conversations with his mom. I had never met his mom before as his older siblings and/or dad always bring him to outreach.

DOUDIE
Doudie had been sick and unable to attend outreach therapy for a few week and so it was great when we were finally able to visit PdP and could check up on her. She is a really smart and funny kid. She talks but in a very quiet voice.  At the beginning of the visit she was shy and and tired. She was still not feeling up to par. So she snuggled with me. Mom said the medicine that she is on makes her very tired. Later in the visit she agreed to go sit on Bernadette's lap. Towards the end of our visit she was more awake and loved playing with the cause-effect musical piano. During our visit I learned that the women who brings her to outreach and the only caretaker I have every known is not mom but grandma. Mom is in PAP finishing school. I learned that her mom had a very hard delivery and Doudie's head was stuck for 10+ hours. Her grandma also informed us that their was a special needs child abandoned at the PdP hospital and how she had been going by and feeding her. I share that for an example of what a sweet women she was.

JUDELINE
I had visited Judline a couple times the last few months. She is a fighter. She has had a rough few months and was struggling with a skin infection and malnourishment. She has parents who adore her and want the best for her. I am so thankful to share that with the right medicine and some fortified food she is doing much better. During our last visit she was even giving smiles. Please keep this precious little one and her family in your prayers :-)
