For Jonathan Sake Outreach Day 15- Gelin

Gelin’s mother and father started bringing him to outreach this past year. At first they would both come every week…then dad started hanging out outside the area where we had outreach and now mom just brings him. He is very blessed to have parents that love and care for him. They are very faithful in bringing him every week & are usually the first ones to outreach every Monday. I have not had the privlidge of visiting where they live but Presidue tell me the live “far on foot” way up the mountain. For him to say “far on foot” must mean the live a long ways away as some of the other outreach we have hiked a good hour up the mountain and that was not “far on foot”.

Gelin has a very week immune system and is at the clinic most every week for fevers, respiratory issues, skin infections, etc. He is a year old and is very small for his age. He has frequent seizures that have hindered his development but thankfully He is on daily seizure medication now that helps control them. He has some spasticity (tightness) in the muscles of his arms/legs and low tone in his core. Gelin has difficulty with head and stomach control for sitting activities. Gelin is an overall very happy boy. He gets the biggest grin when we work on standing and core-strengthening on the ball. He also enjoys swinging and just cuddling with you. The main activity during outreach he does not like is tummy-time and working on weight-bearing through his arms. Mom is eager to learn and very hands on with Gelin. I can sit down and teach her exercises, stretches, & activities to do with Gelin and she will continue to do them most of the time when I walk away.

It has been a joy to watch Gelin’s mother find encouragement from the other mothers in the program. You can tell she genuinely enjoys coming to outreach not just so her son can get help but so that she can find rest, encouragement, and friendship with other mothers who have special needs children.

Please Keep This Family In Your Prayers
·         Pray for Gelin’s health- protection from illness, that his seizure meds would continue to work, etc.
·         Pray that Gelin would continue to gain skills, increase his core-strength, have increased control over his body, and gain increased strength every week through therapy
·         Pray for Gelin’s family to grow in their love for God and understanding of His word and In God’s word they would find peace, hope, and encouragement.
·         Pray that God would provide for the needs of this family (food, shelter, work/income, etc.)
