For Jonathan Sake Outreach Parent Therapy Training

We had the wonderful opportunity to have a Saturday education/parent training day for the new families that entered the outreach program in the past 6 months and for those who are on the waiting list for the program. We had 25 families show up. We spent from 8-3 together in the chapel learning, practicing, fellowshipping, and sharing a meal together.

Each family upon arrival received a folder with laminated training handouts in it, a therapy brush, chewy tube, lotion, and therapy ball. Nicholson and I then taught the families how to do massage, stretching, therapy brush, oral motor on their children. They were educated on the benefits then given the time and chance to practice with them.

Then they were each given an appropriate size therapy ball and trained on how to do specific exercises to address each of their children's specific needs. We went around 1:1 to customize their plan.

We then had a time of worship and each family received a laminated copy of an encouraging message. Then we were able to provide a meal. The children had a fortified cornmeal and the parents had Pate (A fried dough filled with meat)

Of course we couldn't get through a get together without a little photo shoot ;-)

What a wonderful day! I can't even tell you how happy it made my heart to see all these families eager to learn, hands on with their children and the friendships/community that was being built!
