Training Nationals 2014

Developing a sustainable therapy program in Haiti requires training nationals. This is a passion of mine and I am blessed to partner with 3 organizations that are making this happen

Made Known is passionate about educating nationals. We desire for our programs to be nationally run because we realize that those who are serving within their own country have a better understanding of their culture than we ever will.
Mission: To equip nationals with the knowledge and education needed to provide quality care and support for children with special needs around the world.
Why: Schooling related to disability care is limited and receiving a quality education is often unattainable, preventing ambitious men and women around the world from receiving the training needed to provide quality care and support for children with special needs.

Northwest Haiti Christian Mission provides a great fieldwork placement opportunity for hands on training for Rehab Tech, OT, & PT students at the Miriam Center. The Miriam Center has a home with 38 children with disabilities, a community outreach program that works with 70+ families with children with disabilities empowering & training their families. They also have a special education school with 3 different classrooms.

Loma Linda/UNAH Rehab Tech Program has partnered with NWHCM to send their students to the Miriam Center for fieldwork under the supervision of Autumn Marshall an OT who serves at NWHCM and with MADE KNOWN. The Rehab Tech Program provides 18 month training in OT and PT and all students complete 3 three month internships under a therapist in Haiti.
