THE CITADEL AND PALACE ADVENTURES

THE CITADEL and PALACE IN CAP HAITIAN
I had the wonderful opportunity to take a day to experience 1 of the most historical sites in Haiti during my 3 week stay in Cap Haitian this past November, The Citadel and The Palace in Cap Haitian. Erin, Ashley, Phoebe, Jenny and a few friends from COTP adventured out and hiked up the 9 mile mountain (thankfully we drove part way up so we could do the trip faster). I was in AWE of how MASSIVE and DETAILED this fort and palace were. To think that both of these were hand made. That they carried the stones and building materials up that huge mountain. Then to think that they never even ended up needing to use it in battle. The day we went was bitter sweet. Bitter because so foggy we did not get to experience the incredible views that you can actually see all the way to Cuba on a clear day but the SWEET part was that it was foggy and kinda mystical and we were the only people there and had the whole place to ourselves to explore and enjoy. Highly recommend taking time to visit if you ever visit Haiti and especially if you live in Haiti.
