Off to Haiti

As I began my travel into Haiti the following 2 songs were a perfect way to start of the trip.
Mark Harris - One True God
I don't have a God I can put on a stand
Or a God I hold in the palm of my hand
I have a God that's holding me
And I don't have a God that I can create
In the place I live with the money I make
I have a God, He made everything
So I don't need a temporary man made deity
When I got the real thing
I got the real thing

He's the Lord of all the earth
The maker of all things
He alone is the one true God
Kingdoms rise and fall
But even through it all
He remains
The one true God

I don't have a thing that I got on my own
I don't have a care that I carry alone
But I have a God who's carrying me
I don't have sin that He doesn't forgive
And I don't have a heart that is worthy of His
But I have a God who still loves me
So I don't need a temporary man made deity
When I got the real thing
I got the real thing

Who is this King of Glory
The Lord strong and mighty
Who is this King of Glory
The Lord strong and mighty
Who is this King of Glory
Who is this King of Glory

The verse that really struck me in this song is “I don’t have a thing that I got on my own or a care that I carry alone BUT I have a God that is carrying me.” I know that God is carrying me to Haiti, while I am in Haiti, and will carry me home. Praying that I can lay it all out for Him to use these next 5 weeks.

The power of your name- Lincoln Brewster
Verse 1
Surely children weren't made for the streets
And Fathers were not made to leave
Surely this isn't how it should be
Let Your kingdom come

Verse 2
Surely nations were not made for war
Or the broken and due to be ignored
Surely this couldn't be what You saw
Let Your kingdom come
Here in my heart

Chorus
And I will live to carry your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be your hands and feet
And I will give with the life that I've been given
And go beyond religion to see the world be changed
By the power of Your Name
The power of Your Name

Verse 3
Surely life wasn't made to regret
And the lost were not made to forget
Surely faith without action is dead
Let Your Kingdom come
Lord break this heart

Bridge
Jesus Your Name
Is a shelter for the hurting
Your Name
Is a refuge the weak
Only Your Name
Can take the undeserving
Jesus Your Name
Holds everything I need

My prayer is that I will carry God’s compassion and to love this world that is broken in a way that can only come from Him. That I would be His hand and feet to all I come in contact with. I want to help bring change to this world for His kingdom! As I go into Haiti and do not know what to expect sense the earthquake I am holding on the words in the bridge of this song that Jesus is the shelter for the hurting, a refuge to the weak, and that He take the undeserving and that He hold everything that I need. Praying that God prepares me.

Travel has been smooth for the most part. A few little glitches with my luggage and carry-ons but I guess that can be expected when you have over 200lbs of luggage and were pushing the limits every which way  God was faithful though and it was a blessing to meet up with the Oklahoma team in Miami. I am so excited to get to spend 2 weeks with this group in Haiti. It still has not hit me that I am really FINALLY on my way to Haiti. It probably won’t hit me till I hit PAP. I talked to Courtney in the PIT airport and I am so excited to get to see the kids and hug them and to love on them. I can’t believe it has been a whole year since I was in there last.
